Implants

Implants are the best long-term option for the replacement of a missing tooth. An implant can even be placed immediately after an extraction and in the same appointment! An implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of the tooth and is surgically placed into the bone by a periodontist. Surprisingly, this procedure results in minimal discomfort. Once the area is healed, the dentist places a crown onto the post and the tooth is completely restored. It is also possible to have one implant support two tooth crowns/ missing teeth.

In order to maintain the longevity of the implant and the health of the bone that surrounds the implant, it is important to have consistent and thorough home-care. (Brushing twice per day and flossing every day!) It is also very important to stick to your dental cleaning appointments every 6 months to make sure that all of the supporting structures are healthy and stable.
